This route is an iconic highway spanning diverse landscapes and vibrant history and is often referenced as the birthplace of the American road trip. The legendary auto route offers photographers an opportunity to experience the essence of this American classic established in 1926.

Explore and photograph the central section just before it celebrates its 100th birthday. Restored, rejuvenated, retro, abandoned, or forgotten can be used to describe several areas along this iconic route. We’ll explore both the old and renovated Route 66, and at times, we’ll jump from town-to-town along neighboring highways, taking detours to capture the photographic highlights. We might even encounter a Great Plains storm or two if we are fortunate.
